Ecommerce Giant Expands to Saudi Arabia
Context

SPAN and Logsquare partnered to successfully deliver an integrated warehouse solution to one of the region’s largest e-commerce players.  Saudi Arabia is a strategic market, and it is a critical imperative for any e-commerce player to penetrate the Kingdom. SPAN’s customer planned to build a distribution center along with a state of the art fulfilment center to service the Kingdom.

Approach

In-depth Data Analysis: Identifying a tailored and optimal solution requires an in-depth analysis of the data and customer requirements first. The SPAN way has always been to conduct a detailed analysis before recommending potential solutions.

Holistic Solution: Based on the data analysis, SPAN recommended a comprehensive warehouse solution that addressed all customer requirements, including a multi-tier storage system supported by lifts for the vertical transportation of goods, conveyors to secure throughputs, and a sortation system by route and destination.

Collaboration: The relationship and close collaboration with other contractors such as electrical, mechanical, lighting, firefighting and the client’s operation team allowed SPAN to successfully deliver the complex project ahead of the schedule and in phases, enabling the customer to proceed with an early operation.

Results

The customized solution meets and exceeds all customer expectations. With the new distribution center, the e-commerce entity will be able to meet its target storage capacity, productivity and ambitious throughput goals. The automation solution will improve material flow, reduce energy consumption, decrease manpower costs, lower storage footprint requirements while also increasing picking speed.

Going forward, the SPAN After-Sales Service team has been charged with the post-implementation support. Accordingly, the SPAN team will ensure the customer has continuous proactive and reactive support it can rely on.
