Span at Materials Handling Middle East 2019
10 Sep 2019

SPAN once again returned to the Material Handling Exhibition, the region’s dedicated trade show for warehousing, intralogistics and supply chain solutions, held at the Dubai World Trade Centre, from the 3rd to the 5th of September.

With the logistics industry currently experiencing changes that are drastically impacting most operations, SPAN ensured to introduce new solutions into its portfolio that could assist our clients in facing these new challenges while enabling them to cater to their customers’ changing requirements. A few of these solutions where showcased during the exhibition and included smart trollies equipped with pick by light allowing the operators to pick a larger number of orders more effectively and accurately.  In addition, the Storeganizer solution, which enables for quick and easy conversion of existing racking bays into a high density storage system by introducing sliding columns of easy-to-reach pockets hung vertically, was also displayed.  This solution allows our clients to quickly adapt their existing operations into one that can tackle the e-commerce requirements. Furthermore, the latest range of Treston ergonomic workbenches were introduced to demonstrate how to simplify the packing process at the end of line.  The different compartments within the benches allows the packer to pack faster, reduce errors, improve safety while maintaing an envioronment that reduces clutter and stress.

In addition, SPAN, in collaboration with I.D. Systems, showcased the latest innovations in MHE Fleet Management System “PowerFleet”. An intelligent fleet management system for MHE and industrial trucks that enable operations to achieve their goals when it comes to safety and efficiency. PowerFleet helps optimise the utilization of the fleet while improving maintenance and service procedures in the workshop.

On the training side, SPAN introduced a Virtual Reality Simulator of the Jungheinrich VNA Truck. The virtual reality technology eases the learning curve and boosts confidence by enabling operators to test their skills on a stationary truck. Visitors had a chance to experience the VR VNA truck using its full controls while racing against another VNA truck equipped with the Warehouse Navigation System by Jungheinrich, highlighting the effectiveness of such a solution and how it can increase operational throughput by up to 25%.

Last but not least, a team from SNS, a leading logistics consultancy firm, joined to share their deep understanding of the supply chain operations while our SEMA approved inspectors discussed our Rack Safety Inspection Program & our After Service Program that ensure facilities are operating in the safest manner possible while securing a healthy working environment for the operators.
